Yes, i am that mom….. Hmm what do i mean by that you say? Well let me start by stating that in recent years, B.C. ( before children), I would look at moms who carry their screaming children through the grocery store, and shake my head. I would think to myself, she should have left those kids at home. I would hear stories of kids sleeping in parents beds and say ” i would never allow that to happen, how awful.” Well, I am a little older now and let me tell you a little story about this morning. The morning began peaceful thanks to my 4am the only me time i will have for the rest of the day alarm clock. i had my morning coffee, and watched some T.V. Once it was time, i dragged my mini me out of bed, and a morning person she is not. The temperature outside was 29 degrees. which is an unusually low temperature for our normal tropical weather. i went and gathered her clothes and braced myself for the wrestling match i was about to endure. Mini me does not like long sleeves, or pants of any kind. Just shirts and skirts. On most days its a non issue, however cold weather persists. so i start putting the pants on one leg at a time, while she was kicking and screaming. I didn’t hear police sirens, so its safe to assume the neighbors weren’t awake or they would have though she was being murdered. By the time i got one leg in and started working on the other she would wiggle out. After about 20 minutes of wrestling, I will give you one guess as to who lost this match. It wasn’t my super stubborn mini me that is for sure… so Short sleeve shirt and skirt it is. I still have two other children to get up, dressed and out the door! We don’t have any time for this. So.. When i am dropping my four year old off to daycare in nothing but a shirt and skirt in freezing temperatures, do not judge because yes, i am that mom. The mom who picks her battles. ones that she will win, because i lost this one before i even started….. What battles have you lost lately?
I am a wife of ten years, mom of three, Nurse and student! My household is quite chaotic and busy. With a six year old going on sixteen. we shall call her "Sassy", a four year old, who is stubborn as a mule, she shall be called " mini me", and a one year old, we will call "Buddy". Our girls do Ballet, and our son, well he is all boy! Very curious and always getting in to something. When we found out we were having a boy i laughed and said " god must have known we needed a little less diva in our life," Ha, little boys are quite the handful! I love my kids with all of my heart, and i love my job too! As a nurse leader i get to see many sides to healthcare and help encourage and guide new nurses. I love taking care of patients and being able to have grown up talk and then come home to my babies. The house is usually chaotic with lots of tantrums, and messes, but i wouldn't change it for a bit. On the rare occasion that i am able to have some spare time to myself, i like to read, bake and decorate cakes, and take pictures of my kiddos. Time to myself is rare so i decided to start this blog to have a creative outlet and connect with other working moms, who might be going through the same situations as myself. I hope you enjoy my thoughts and stories as a mom, student, wife and Nurse! These stories will range from Diapers and tutus to meetings and boardrooms! and everything that falls in between. Enjoy and thanks for visiting my site. View All Posts
