Sarcasim and Sassy don’t mix

Mommy mishaps, we all have them. We say things or do things that end up taking a turn for the worse. You know, those moments when you wish you could turn back the clock and do it a little differently. Yeah, well that was me today. I was driving my little mini me and Sassy pants home from Ballet. I made a conscious effort to leave work early and be the one to drive them today. Even though NO One in my house let me sleep last night, but a promise is a promise and I promised the girls I would take them to ballet this time.  I urged them to use the potty prior to Ballet. Mini me did as requested, but true to form, Sassy pants would not listen. Exhausted and cranky thanks to my little sleep deprivers mind you, I did not press the issue. We shall call this mistake number one in this case. So after Ballet I again took them to the restroom and asked them to potty. Again, mini me listened and Sassy did not. Too tired I said let’s go. mistake number 2! Are you keeping up with me because we have another mistake coming! Having a test tomorrow and no sleep, but still needed to study I decided to take the extra drive to Starbucks because my monster headache was killing me and I still have work to do before bed! Mistake number 3! After the Sanity keeping Starbucks run, Sassy tells me that she needs to potty!Well, I thought I was so cool that I would just tell her that since she didn’t listen when I asked that she could just pee on herself or hold it, because we weren’t stopping! In my barely conscious stupor I forgot how literal she is!  She at the age of six  does not understand my sarcasm. She is a child after all! Had I not been so tired, I would have remembered this important detail! Mistake number 4! We got home, and sure enough that child’s seat was WET! Yep, she really did it! She Thought I really meant to pee on herself! So mortified at myself for allowing my crankiness get the better of me,  I guess I have to chalk this up to mommy mishap number…. Well, I have lost count at this point! So lesson learned, Six year old children  take things very Literally and even when sleep deprived, do not tell your child to pee on themselves because they will! Here are some other quotes that sassy has taken to the extreme literality!
  • “If you do not hurry up, then I will drag you to the car!” – her response – crying while saying –  “ But you will scrape all of my skin off!”

  • ” You can do anything you want in life,be anything you want” when she doesn’t get her way   ” You said I could do anything I want!”

  • ” I have a test today too!” – “

mommy you are too old to be in my class!”

hmm…. Have you ever said anything to your child that you wish you could take back, or better yet, have they ever said anything you wish they could take back?

I am a wife of ten years, mom of three, Nurse and student! My household is quite chaotic and busy. With a six year old going on sixteen. we shall call her "Sassy", a four year old, who is stubborn as a mule, she shall be called " mini me", and a one year old, we will call "Buddy". Our girls do Ballet, and our son, well he is all boy! Very curious and always getting in to something. When we found out we were having a boy i laughed and said " god must have known we needed a little less diva in our life," Ha, little boys are quite the handful! I love my kids with all of my heart, and i love my job too! As a nurse leader i get to see many sides to healthcare and help encourage and guide new nurses. I love taking care of patients and being able to have grown up talk and then come home to my babies. The house is usually chaotic with lots of tantrums, and messes, but i wouldn't change it for a bit. On the rare occasion that i am able to have some spare time to myself, i like to read, bake and decorate cakes, and take pictures of my kiddos. Time to myself is rare so i decided to start this blog to have a creative outlet and connect with other working moms, who might be going through the same situations as myself. I hope you enjoy my thoughts and stories as a mom, student, wife and Nurse! These stories will range from Diapers and tutus to meetings and boardrooms! and everything that falls in between. Enjoy and thanks for visiting my site.
