Life, Love and Ten years together

The sun shining through the clouds

As she had awaken for the morning in her grandmother’s house, she looked out the window to see gray clouds. Instant nausea had risen in her throat. It can’t possibly rain today she thought. It’s an outdoor wedding! She went to the breakfast table to greet her “nanny” as she had nicknamed her grandmother since she was a little girl. Nanny looked at her and said oh sweetie you are nervous, eat something it will be okay. She stopped to reflect on this and said, “no I just don’t want it to rain on my wedding day!” marrying him is the easy part. No nerves, no shaky hands, just please don’t rain on us today. So she ate a quick bite and went to get her hair done on this dreary Monday morning. Yep, they  picked a Monday to be husband and wife!  The justice of the peace thought it a bit odd, but politely obliged. She was one moth from graduating from college and they had been engaged for well over a year now. For various reasons they were unable to  have a big wedding at that point in time. So  they decided to get married on spring break at the beach that has so quickly become their special place.

After her hair was done, she bought an umbrella, just in case ,and as soon as she stepped out of the store it began, the rain drizzled down and she began to cry. but it would be okay right? As she arrived to the beach in her simple white dress, she seen him and all her fears about the weather  had fallen. It had stopped raining, and was no longer that important anyway. This was the man she would marry. He is the one  who she would spend her life with. As they stood in the white sand with the sun smiling down, all of their close  family and  very close friends surrounded them in a circle. There were no chairs or fancy big arches with expensive  flowers. No big giant ribbons or anything like that.It was pure and simple just like the love they shared.  This was more their style anyway. One maid of honor and best man at their side as they began saying  their  vows to one another.

When it was time and  he kissed his all of the  memories past, present and visions of  future came rushing in her mind. Their first kiss on the fourth date, happened on the white sandy beach that they were standing on now.  He gave her the ring and professed his undeniable love to her on this very sandy beach, and now in full circle here they are becoming husband and wife in front of their loves ones on this special soil, with the waves crashing to shore. It is the most beautiful sound.  Visions of future children running around came flashing in her head, because she knew he would be a great dad! This  shortest but most vivid moment will stay with her forever. She keeps the picture of their first kiss as husband and wife at their bedside to serve as a memory of hope, happiness and the strong bond that they share.

10 years later

It’s amazing to look at the picture of those two young people. Full of hope, promises and a life together. They said until sickness and health and richer and poorer, and in 10 years they have certainly experienced all of those things. Through buying a home, suffering a miscarriage, Having three beautiful children, post Cesarian complications, loss of income, new jobs, and starting school again. They have stood by one another and weathered the storm. Each day brings  a new stress or battle. But they are in it together. He still looks at her as if she is the only person in the room.  Even with age, body changes and yes a few gray hairs, he still tells her that she is pretty, beautiful and sexy at least once a day! She still thinks to herself, I love that man. He gets better looking with age, he supports me and loves me.  We are stronger together than we are apart. It’s not that we couldn’t do it without each other, We just do not want to! Tonight we celebrate the 10 year journey that we have accomplished. As I walk on the beach holding his hand, I will remember that first kiss, The intimate proposal, and most beautiful wedding ever! Happy anniversary to my husband who has loved,  supported and cherished me like no other! It’s not always easy, but anything worth having rarely is! Tonight as we celebrate ten years, we  will also celebrate  the beginning of the next ten years together and what it holds for our beautiful little family!

I am a wife of ten years, mom of three, Nurse and student! My household is quite chaotic and busy. With a six year old going on sixteen. we shall call her "Sassy", a four year old, who is stubborn as a mule, she shall be called " mini me", and a one year old, we will call "Buddy". Our girls do Ballet, and our son, well he is all boy! Very curious and always getting in to something. When we found out we were having a boy i laughed and said " god must have known we needed a little less diva in our life," Ha, little boys are quite the handful! I love my kids with all of my heart, and i love my job too! As a nurse leader i get to see many sides to healthcare and help encourage and guide new nurses. I love taking care of patients and being able to have grown up talk and then come home to my babies. The house is usually chaotic with lots of tantrums, and messes, but i wouldn't change it for a bit. On the rare occasion that i am able to have some spare time to myself, i like to read, bake and decorate cakes, and take pictures of my kiddos. Time to myself is rare so i decided to start this blog to have a creative outlet and connect with other working moms, who might be going through the same situations as myself. I hope you enjoy my thoughts and stories as a mom, student, wife and Nurse! These stories will range from Diapers and tutus to meetings and boardrooms! and everything that falls in between. Enjoy and thanks for visiting my site.
