Posted in nursing - it's my job

A New Beginning

Well, I have officially completed my first week at the new job. I think I am going to like it there. As someone who is used to being always on the go, I found the first two days frustrating. I literally sat around all day. This position is a new one and there isn’t really anyone in my department that will be doing exactly what I am so there is no true orientation.Β  Me and sitting around do not mix.

Towards the end I was able to find some things to do and actually have some meetings set up for next week.Β A sort of get to know the managers etc. I am looking forward to these as I can tell them hey, I get it! I was there just a few months ago and how can I help you. The idea of being able to initiate projects but not have the responsibility for the implementation is very appealing.

This week I also took data and placed it into a graph all on my own! Who would have thought I could do that!! Definitely not me as math makes me crazy but it’s part of the job and I found it quite fun!

The people are amazingly nice and I couldn’t ask for better coworkers. The atmosphere is pretty laid back which is not something I am used to but can easily learn to get used to.Β  My favorite is the boss lady telling me you make your own hours. So if I need to be late for a school function or doctor’s appointment it is not a big deal! Say what???? yep so this is me liking my new job to this point. Time will tell if that opinion stays.

This banner was waiting for me at my desk on the first day! Yep they love me!

I am a wife of ten years, mom of three, Nurse and student! My household is quite chaotic and busy. With a six year old going on sixteen. we shall call her "Sassy", a four year old, who is stubborn as a mule, she shall be called " mini me", and a one year old, we will call "Buddy". Our girls do Ballet, and our son, well he is all boy! Very curious and always getting in to something. When we found out we were having a boy i laughed and said " god must have known we needed a little less diva in our life," Ha, little boys are quite the handful! I love my kids with all of my heart, and i love my job too! As a nurse leader i get to see many sides to healthcare and help encourage and guide new nurses. I love taking care of patients and being able to have grown up talk and then come home to my babies. The house is usually chaotic with lots of tantrums, and messes, but i wouldn't change it for a bit. On the rare occasion that i am able to have some spare time to myself, i like to read, bake and decorate cakes, and take pictures of my kiddos. Time to myself is rare so i decided to start this blog to have a creative outlet and connect with other working moms, who might be going through the same situations as myself. I hope you enjoy my thoughts and stories as a mom, student, wife and Nurse! These stories will range from Diapers and tutus to meetings and boardrooms! and everything that falls in between. Enjoy and thanks for visiting my site.

    1. lol I need to g back and read your post and glad I am not alone! I kept saying I need to be doing something, give me something to do and my director looked at me and said just enjoy it!

  1. I’m so confus-ed! I thought you were a nurse. Am I way off? Also, I have no idea how you accomplish SO MUCH. Do you sleep?? There should be a special “Works Three Jobs” blogger award! You would win that award! You go, girl.

    1. Yes I am still a nurse. I was most recently a nurse manager but recently stepped down and decided to get a job in quality management helping leaders improve their patient safety measures. It’s a pretty neat job and nursing can do so much these days. There is informatics nursing, infection prevention, risk management etc.. and thank you! I do sleep actually lol!
