TTOT – Exhausted Parent Edition!

As the sheer exhaustion sets in my shoulders I am left having a hard time feeling thankful at the moment. Which of course means that I need to sit down and thank my lucky stars and get out of my grumpy momma aint had no sleep mood! So here I am writing my Thankfuls in the kitchen out of site of the 2yo. If he sees me then he is going to want me to sit with him and after holding him non stop since Friday, I just can’t. Just can’t.

For those who are not regular’s of the blog my 2yo started having fever on Friday so I had to call in to my new job and stay home with him. Afraid he might have the flu I took him in to the doctor despite the lack of insurance and they didn’t feel the need to test him as he was outside the window for tami-flu. He has been extremely congested, so we did get some good prescription cough medicine with some antihistamine in it. Which means the trip was not a total waste of time or money. (Thankful #1)

The Hubby and I had to cancel our Date scheduled for Saturday night since the boy was sick and I had plans to go to dinner Friday night which he agreed to let me still go. I told him to text me and I would come right home if 2yo needed me at any time but I was glad to get a minute away. Diner was amazing and I haven’t laughed that hard in ages. Two friends and a total of six margaritas between us make Thankful #2,3,4,5,6,7,8, an 9! – Yep that dinner equals 8 thankfuls in one!

Dreading having to call in to work in my first two weeks I texted the boss lady. Her response reminded me that I was in the right place. She said to please not worry and take care of my son! It has been awhile since I have worked in such an understanding environment and for that I am Thankful! ( Thankful #10)

Yes I cheated this week, but it is all I have to give. Did I mention that the 5yo woke up at 2:30am throwing up her insides! yeah this is the other reason for my exhaustion. It’s been a long weekend and I hope you all have had a better one than me! Here is to hoping tomorrow is another day and all kids are well enough to go to school. After this weekend, work will be a vacation!

I am a wife of ten years, mom of three, Nurse and student! My household is quite chaotic and busy. With a six year old going on sixteen. we shall call her "Sassy", a four year old, who is stubborn as a mule, she shall be called " mini me", and a one year old, we will call "Buddy". Our girls do Ballet, and our son, well he is all boy! Very curious and always getting in to something. When we found out we were having a boy i laughed and said " god must have known we needed a little less diva in our life," Ha, little boys are quite the handful! I love my kids with all of my heart, and i love my job too! As a nurse leader i get to see many sides to healthcare and help encourage and guide new nurses. I love taking care of patients and being able to have grown up talk and then come home to my babies. The house is usually chaotic with lots of tantrums, and messes, but i wouldn't change it for a bit. On the rare occasion that i am able to have some spare time to myself, i like to read, bake and decorate cakes, and take pictures of my kiddos. Time to myself is rare so i decided to start this blog to have a creative outlet and connect with other working moms, who might be going through the same situations as myself. I hope you enjoy my thoughts and stories as a mom, student, wife and Nurse! These stories will range from Diapers and tutus to meetings and boardrooms! and everything that falls in between. Enjoy and thanks for visiting my site.

  1. As Lizzi would say, bless your boots. That is certainly an exhausting weekend. I hope everyone feels better by morning, but if not, what a blessing your boss is. Sounds like a good place to work.

    1. Thanks! it certainly seems so! I have only been there two weeks so hopefull I will not have to call in again, but she certainly seems to understand!

  2. Meeting parenting challenges on not-enough sleep is one of the hardest things! Hang in there. I hope everyone is feeling better and well-rested soon!

    1. Uggh yeah it stunk! Now it’s is me and the hubby’s turn. I always say moms shouldn’t be sick but you know what. The mom and dad shouldn’t be sick at the same time!
